Hmmm.. So another year ends and also ends a decade.
This decade was very eventful in my life. This decade i started my journey as a school kid and ending it with a well established software engineer (well some say/think so).
Visited/stayed/changed many cities. Chandigarh, NCR, bangalore which covers the major stay.
Changed the way we communicate connect with people. Started with Mobile phone, Orkut, Facebook and now twitter.
Changed the way we express ourself. writing diaries to writing blog, update status in facebook or simply tweet. yes I used to write a dairy atleast for an year i wrote.
Sharing my experience of my stay in cities i stayed.
Chandigarh - Stayed in chandigarh from 2000 to 2006. almost for 6 and half year. Place which showed me real world, gave me freedom to do anything. gave me sense to choose between wrong and right. Place where i made so many friends and enemies (actually not much enemies). Place where i had my first drink :P. How can i forget Panjab University and hostel no 6. I owe a lot to these two places. Name of chandigarh itself is enough to explain how awesome this city is. well planned, next to no traffic. Great weather and most important near to every place where you want to hang out. Chandigarh is my first love and given chance any day i would love to settle down in this beautiful city. Also this city gave me the chance to meet first and last love of my life. :)
Bangalore - As every other IT student's destiny, i also landed up in bangalore in 2006. now its been around 4 years. I am absolutely in love with this city. there is a saying for bangalore, if you throw a stone. either it will hit a dog or a software engineer :) :). Bangalore have very special place in my life. Met lot of people, made great friends. Got to know the real face of few fake people in my life. This city gave me a lot. made me lakhpati from kangalpati... he he. gave me lot lot good friends. Names to follow in next portion. I am Enjoyiny my stay in bangalore, hopefully this fun will continue for longer run.
NCR (Noida) - It was a short, sweet and horrible stay. Short spent 8 months only. Sweet coz near to home place and apna north ka feeling, horrible because i was alone there no much known and then safety concern. Noida taught me how to do absolutely nothing in office and still get a full month salary with a full credit from managers about how critical you are to team :) Again met few great people there. Miss those night outs in sec 18 Atta market, Saket, GK ,friends colony. I won't mind If again i get an opportunity to work in NCR.
Worked with three different companies. Still in love with the first company. been an year i left first company, but still I am not over it.
Met a lot of people in last 10 years. May be thousand people. I was wondering if i can compile a list of people who made impact on my life in this decade.want to say a big thanks to them and bash few.But when i started compiling list found so many ass holes to put on this list, whom i don't want to say thanks or want to see their faces even in my dreams. Also thought if i am compiling a list then might be will forget people or few will feel offended so I am saying Thanks to you all. Let me name few people My sis, my nephew nieces for so much happiness. My friend in home town Arsh, College friend Parvez, Divya then a lot of people in Bangalore Arun busy man, mudassar golibaz, Sidharath devdaas, nikku dada. umesh bhaiya, Shiva SRK and a lot of CSR friends. I am sure i am missing on a lot. sorry for that guys. Even if you are not in this list, that does not mean i don't respect you. you all have a special place in my life and will continue having.
Chalo baut bakwas ho gaya. At the end Thanks for being there and making my life great and worse at the same time.
With this let me bid farewell to 2010 and welcome 2011 on happy and high note.
Happy new year to all of you.Have a wonderful and rocking year ahead. Party hard!
And yes i don't have any resolutions for 2011. I dont understand the concept of resolution. for god sake its new year not a problem bank that you need to decide resolutions/solutions in advance.
Let the Party begin... Love you all.

'शीला की जवानी' गीत का भावार्थ - Sheela ki Jawani
I know you want it
But you never gonna get it
Tere haath kabhi na aani
Maane na maane koi duniya
Yeh saari, mere ishq ki hai deewani
Hey hey, I know you want it
but you never gonna get it
Tere haath kabhi na aani
Maane na maane koi duniya
yeh saari Mere ishq ki hai deewani
Ab dil karta hai haule haule se
Main toh khud ko gale lagaun
Kisi aur ki mujhko zaroorat kya
Main toh khud se pyaar jataun
what's my name
what's my name
what's my name
My name is Sheela
Sheela ki jawani
I'm just sexy for you
Main tere haath na aani
Na na na sheela
Sheela ki jawani
I'm just sexy for you
Main tere haath na aani
Take it on
Take it on
Take it on
Take it on
अब नायिका सीधे शब्दों में चुनौती देती है. एक ऐसी चुनौती जो शायद मर्दों में शराब के बिना भी साहस ला दे.
Silly silly silly silly boys
O o o you're so silly
Mujhe bolo bolo karte hain
O o oHaan jab unki taraf dekhun,
baatein haule haule karte hain
Hai magar, beasar mujh par har paintra
Haye re aise tarse humko
Ho gaye sober se re
Sookhey dil pe megapan ke
teri nazariya barse re
I know you want it
but you never gonna get it
Tere haath kabhi na aani
SheelaSheela ki jawani
I'm just sexy for you
Main tere haath na aani
Na na na sheela
Sheela ki jawani
I'm just sexy for you
Main tere haath na aani

Teamwork
An excerpt
by
Mac Anderson
Not long ago, a friend sent me the story of "Old Warwick." It brought a smile to my face, and I think it shares a wonderful lesson for every leader to learn.
A man was lost while driving through the country. As he tried to reach for the map, he accidentally drove off the road into a ditch. Thought he wasn't injured, his car was stuck deep in the mud. So the man walked to a nearby farm to ask for help. "Warwick can get you out of that ditch," said the farmer, pointing to an old mule standing in a field. The man looked at the decrepit old mule and looked at the farmer who just stood there repeating,
"Yep, old Warwick can do the job." The man figured he had nothing to lose. The two men and the mule made their way back to the ditch. The farmer hitched the mule to the car. With a snap of the reins, he shouted,
"Pull, Fred! Pull, Jack! Pull, Ted! Pull, Warwick!"
And the mule pulled that car right out of the ditch.
The man was amazed. He thanked the farmer, patted the mule, and asked, "Why did you call out all of those names before you called Warwick?"
The farmer grinned and said, "Old Warwick is just about blind. As long as he believes he's part of a team, he doesn't mind pulling."
Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishment toward organizational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to obtain uncommon results

MARRIAGE
When I got home that night as my wife served dinner, I held her hand and said, I've got something to tell you. She sat down and ate quietly. Again I observed the hurt in her eyes.
Suddenly I didn't know how to open my mouth. But I had to let her know what I was thinking. I want a divorce. I raised the topic calmly.
She didn't seem to be annoyed by my words, instead she asked me softly, why?
I avoided her question. This made her angry. She threw away the chopsticks and shouted at me, you are not a man! That night, we didn't talk to each other. She was weeping. I knew she wanted to find out what had happened to our marriage. But I could hardly give her a satisfactory answer; she had lost my heart to Jane. I didn't love her anymore. I just pitied her!
With a deep sense of guilt, I drafted a divorce agreement which stated that she could own our house, our car, and 30% stake of my company.
She glanced at it and then tore it into pieces. The woman who had spent ten years of her life with me had become a stranger. I felt sorry for her wasted time, resources and energy but I could not take back what I had said for I loved Jane so dearly. Finally she cried loudly in front of me, which was what I had expected to see. To me her cry was actually a kind of release. The idea of divorce which had obsessed me for several weeks seemed to be firmer and clearer now.
The next day, I came back home very late and found her writing something at the table. I didn't have supper but went straight to sleep and fell asleep very fast because I was tired after an eventful day with Jane.
When I woke up, she was still there at the table writing. I just did not care so I turned over and was asleep again.
In the morning she presented her divorce conditions: she didn't want anything from me, but needed a month's notice before the divorce. She requested that in that one month we both struggle to live as normal a life as possible. Her reasons were simple: our son had his exams in a month's time and she didn't want to disrupt him with our broken marriage.
This was agreeable to me. But she had something more, she asked me to recall how I had carried her into out bridal room on our wedding day.
She requested that every day for the month's duration I carry her out of our bedroom to the front door ever morning. I thought she was going crazy. Just to make our last days together bearable I accepted her odd request.
I told Jane about my wife's divorce conditions. . She laughed loudly and thought it was absurd. No matter what tricks she applies, she has to face the divorce, she said scornfully.
My wife and I hadn't had any body contact since my divorce intention was explicitly expressed. So when I carried her out on the first day, we both appeared clumsy. Our son clapped behind us, daddy is holding mommy in his arms. His words brought me a sense of pain. From the bedroom to the sitting room, then to the door, I walked over ten meters with her in my arms. She closed her eyes and said softly; don't tell our son about the divorce. I nodded, feeling somewhat upset. I put her down outside the door. She went to wait for the bus to work. I drove alone to the office.
On the second day, both of us acted much more easily. She leaned on my chest. I could smell the fragrance of her blouse. I realized that I hadn't looked at this woman carefully for a long time. I realized she was not young any more. There were fine wrinkles on her face, her hair was graying! Our marriage had taken its toll on her. For a minute I wondered what I had done to her.
On the fourth day, when I lifted her up, I felt a sense of intimacy returning. This was the woman who had given ten years of her life to me.
On the fifth and sixth day, I realized that our sense of intimacy was growing again. I didn't tell Jane about this. It became easier to carry her as the month slipped by. Perhaps the everyday workout made me stronger.
She was choosing what to wear one morning. She tried on quite a few dresses but could not find a suitable one. Then she sighed, all my dresses have grown bigger. I suddenly realized that she had grown so thin, that was the reason why I could carry her more easily.
Suddenly it hit me... she had buried so much pain and bitterness in her heart. Subconsciously I reached out and touched her head.
Our son came in at the moment and said, Dad, it's time to carry mom out. To him, seeing his father carrying his mother out had become an essential part of his life. My wife gestured to our son to come closer and hugged him tightly. I turned my face away because I was afraid I might change my mind at this last minute. I then held her in my arms, walking from the bedroom, through the sitting room, to the hallway. Her hand surrounded my neck softly and naturally. I held her body tightly; it was just like our wedding day.
But her much lighter weight made me sad. On the last day, when I held her in my arms I could hardly move a step. Our son had gone to school. I held her tightly and said, I hadn't noticed that our life lacked intimacy.
I drove to office.... jumped out of the car swiftly without locking the door. I was afraid any delay would make me change my mind...I walked upstairs. Jane opened the door and I said to her, Sorry, Jane, I do not want the divorce anymore.
She looked at me, astonished, and then touched my forehead. Do you have a fever? She said. I moved her hand off my head. Sorry, Jane, I said, I won't divorce. My marriage life was boring probably because she and I didn't value the details of our lives, not because we didn't love each other anymore. Now I realize that since I carried her into my home on our wedding day I am supposed to hold her until death do us apart.
Jane seemed to suddenly wake up. She gave me a loud slap and then slammed the door and burst into tears. I walked downstairs and drove away.
At the floral shop on the way, I ordered a bouquet of flowers for my wife. The salesgirl asked me what to write on the card. I smiled and wrote, I'll carry you out every morning until death do us apart.
That evening I arrived home, flowers in my hands, a smile on my face, I run up stairs, only to find my wife in the bed - dead. My wife had been fighting CANCER for months and I was so busy with Jane to even notice. She knew that she would die soon and she wanted to save me from the whatever negative reaction from our son, in case we push thru with the divorce.-- At least, in the eyes of our son--- I'm a loving husband....
The small details of your lives are what really matter in a relationship. It is not the mansion, the car, property, the money in the bank. These create an environment conducive for happiness but cannot give happiness in themselves. So find time to be your spouse's friend and do those little things for each other that build intimacy. Do have a real happy marriage!
If you don't share this, nothing will happen to you.

Because you loved me...
Found this poem while cleaning my inbox... liked it and thought of sharing with you all.
For all those times you stood by me
For all the truth that you made me see
For all the joy you brought to my life
For all the wrong that you made right
For every dream you made come true
For all the love I found in you
I'll be forever thankful baby
You're the one who held me up
Never let me fall
You're the one who saw me through through it all
You were my strength when I was weak
You were my voice when I couldn't speak
You were my eyes when I couldn't see
You saw the best there was in me
Lifted me up when I couldn't reach
You gave me faith 'coz you believed
I'm everything I am
Because you loved me
You gave me wings and made me fly
You touched my hand I could touch the sky
I lost my faith, you gave it back to me
You said no star was out of reach
You stood by me and I stood tall
I had your love I had it all
I'm grateful for each day you gave me
Maybe I don't know that much
But I know this much is true
I was blessed because I was loved by you
You were my strength when I was weak
You were my voice when I couldn't speak
You were my eyes when I couldn't see
You saw the best there was in me
Lifted me up when I couldn't reach
You gave me faith 'coz you believed
I'm everything I am
Because you loved me
You were always there for me
The tender wind that carried me
A light in the dark shining your love into my life
You've been my inspiration
Through the lies you were the truth
My world is a better place because of you
You were my strength when I was weak
You were my voice when I couldn't speak
You were my eyes when I couldn't see
You saw the best there was in me
Lifted me up when I couldn't reach
You gave me faith 'coz you believed

The legend of the lungi - Just for fun :-)
*The Legend of "The Lungi"
Just as the national bird of Kerala is Mosquito, her national dress is ‘Lungi’. Pronounced as ‘Lu’ as in loo and ‘ngi ‘ as in ‘mongey’, a lungi can be identified by its floral or window-curtain pattern. ‘Mundu’ is the white variation of lungi and is worn on special occasions like hartal or bandh days, weddings and Onam.
Lungi is simple and ‘down to earth’ like the mallu wearing it. Lungi is the beginning and the end of evolution in its category. Wearing something on the top half of your body is optional when you are wearing a lungi. Lungi is a
strategic dress. It’s like a one-size-fits-all bottoms for Keralites.
The technique of wearing a lungi/mundu is passed on from generation to generation through word of mouth like the British Constitution. If you think it is an easy task wearing it, just try it once! It requires techniques like breath control and yoga that is a notch higher than sudarshan kriya of AOL. A lungi/mundu when perfectly worn won’t come off even in a quake of 8 on the richter scale. A lungi is not attached to the waist using duct tape, staple, rope or velcro. It’s a bit of mallu magic whose formula is a closely guarded secret like the Coca Cola chemicals.
A lungi can be worn ‘Full Mast’ or ‘Half Mast’ like a national flag. A ‘Full Mast’ lungi is when you are showing espect to an elderly or the dead. Wearing it at full mast has lots of disadvantages. A major disadvantage is when a dog runs after you. When you are wearing a lungi/mundu at full mast, the advantage is mainly for the female onlookers who are spared the ordeal of swooning at the sight of hairy legs.
Wearing a lungi ‘Half Mast’ is when you wear it exposing yourself like those C grade movie starlets. A mallu can play cricket, football or simply run when the lungi is worn at half mast. A mallu can even climb a coconut tree wearing lungi in half mast. ”It’s not good manners, especially for ladies from decent families, to look up at a mallu climbing a coconut tree”- Confucius (or is it Abdul Kalam?)
Most mallus do the traditional dance kudiyattam. Kudi means drinking alcohol and yattam, spelled as aattam, means random movement of the male body. Note that ‘y’ is silent. When you are drinking, you drink, there is no
‘y’. Any alcohol related “festival” can be enjoyed to the maximum when you are topless with lungi and a towel tied around the head. ”Half mast lungi makes it easy to dance and shake legs” says Candelaria Amaranto, a Salsa
teacher from Spain after watching ‘kudiyaattam’ .
The ‘Lungi Wearing Mallu Union’ [LUWMU, pronounced LOVE MU], an NGO (Non Government Organisation) which works towards the ‘upliftment’ of the lungi, strongly disapproves of the GenNext tendency of wearing Bermudas under the lungi. Bermudas under the lungi is a conspiracy by the CIA. It’s a disgrace
to see a person wearing burmuda with corporate logos under his lungi. What they don’t know is how much these corporates are limiting their freedom of movement and expression.
A mallu wears lungi round the year, all weather, all season. A mallu celebrates winter by wearing a colourful lungi with a floral pattern.
Lungi provides good ventilation and brings down the heat between legs.
A mallu is scared of global warming more than anyone else in the world.
A lungi/mundu can be worn any time of the day/night. It doubles as blanket at night. It also doubles up as a swing, swimwear, sleeping bag, parachute, facemask while entering/exiting toddy shops, shopping basket and water
filter while fishing in ponds and rivers. It also has recreational uses like in ’Lungi/mundu pulling’, a pastime in households having more than one male member. Lungi pulling competitions are held outside toddyshops all over
Kerala during Onam and Vishu. When these lungis are decommissioned from service, they become table cloths.
Thus the humble lungi is a cradle to grave appendage.”

Caring capitalism: Ten socially responsible companies
In this enlightened day and age, whether times are good or bad, companies must be socially responsible, all the while ensuring that the performance is not affected and that financial prudence is applied. While that may sound politically incorrect, the fact is that winning companies create jobs, pay taxes, and strengthen the economy. Winning companies, in other words, enable social responsibility, not the other way around
Here is the list of companies top 10 in CSR
1. Intel:
The most unique feature of Intel is their passion for using technology to power their CSR. Education is a big part of how they give back to society and they do so by holding competitions. The Intel Science Talent Search Intel STS is America's oldest and most highly regarded science competition, where 40 children gather in Washington, D.C. to showcase their original scientific research and compete for $630,000 in awards and prizes. Intel also organize the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair ie, for pre-college students, The Intel and UC Berkeley Technology Entrepreneurship Challenge ie. IBTEC that supports and promotes entrepreneurship predominantly in developing countries and the Intel School of Distinction. Intel is also committed to the environment and their environmental promises include Eco-smart Computing Inside focusing on energy-efficient performance and products with a smaller ecological footprint. Eco-Responsible Operations focusing on the reduction of emissions and energy consumption, water conservation, waste reduction and greener buildings.
2. HSBC (HSBC Climate Partnership):
HSBC has corporate sustainability teams working at group, regional and country level to shape the bank's approach to sustainable business opportunities. As part of their continuous encouragement to their employees to take part in CSR, HSBC Employees can apply to become Climate Champions under the HSBC Climate Partnership. HSBC have a longstanding relationship with WWF and are currently supporting the charity in its global conservation efforts. They also work with Earthwatch, The Climate Group and the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute as part of the HSBC Climate Partnership Program. HSBC has set up Regional Climate Centers around the world where scientists and HSBC staff collect vital data on the impacts of climate change on the world's forests.HSBC has developed its own polices for lending to socially and environmentally sensitive sectors. They provide financial services that help stimulate solutions to social and environmental challenges, like climate change and access to clean water. They have programs to reduce the direct environmental impact of their business operations. HSBC became carbon neutral in 2005.
3. The Body Shop:
The Body Shop can be considered one of the pioneers of modern corporate social responsibility. Since its inception, it has endorsed and championed various social issues such as opposition to animal testing, developing community trade, building self-esteem, campaigning for human rights, and protection of the planet. One of their major achievements was back in 1985, where they managed to work with Greenpeace and garner more than 4,000,000 signatures against animal testing in the European Union. They have also made significant financial contributions to the causes they stand for. Today, the company continues their ground-breaking work in the field of CSR. For example, they partnered with MTV to raise funds and awareness about HIV and AIDS amongst young people, through their Spray to Change campaign. They have also collaborated with UNICEF and the United Nations Secretary-General's office for the Stop Violence in the Home initiative where they conduct a study into the effects of domestic violence on children.
4. Nokia:
Over a billion people in the world use a Nokia phone. That puts Nokia in a unique position of power when it comes to dictating terms to their supply chain. Environmentally friendly design, substance management, a healthy and safe workplace, and labor conditions that enforce workers' rights are some of the conditions that must be met when working with Nokia. The vendors must also submit to Nokia conducting onsite assessments, reporting breaches of requirements and advice on how to remedy failings. They also work closely with their contributors to manage their products' life cycles and the company fully reports all of the materials that come in their cell phones. Education also plays a big role in Nokia's CSR they have several initiatives that harness mobility to promote education. They work on delivering new, high quality education materials to remote classrooms via mobile technology and providing services that makes use of social networking to help young people improve their skills. Recently, they have begun to install within the company, a systematic process to monitor human rights issues across all their geographies.
5. Starbucks Cofee:
Since 1971, Starbucks Coffee aimed at acting responsibly and ethically. One of their focuses is the sustainable production of green coffee ie. C.A.F.E. The project uses a set of guidelines that achieve product quality, economic accountability, social responsibility and environmental leadership. As part of their CSR vision, they pay a premium for beans grown on environmentally and socially responsible farms to stimulate positive changes within the global coffee market and ultimately result in a fully sustainable coffee production supply chain. They are also staunch Fair Trade practitioners. Fair Trade standards ensure that employees have safe working conditions, work reasonable hours and are paid a fair amount for their work. Starbucks provides cash and product donations to organizations where its partners are involved as volunteers. Examples of these informal initiatives are: Earth Day clean-ups, regional AIDS walks and local literacy organizations. Starbucks also donates a portion of its pre-tax profits to corporate philanthropy as part of its efforts to be more socially responsible. Starbucks makes charitable contributions through the Starbucks Foundation created in 1997.
6. Vodafone:
Europe's largest cellular telecom company does a superb job of questioning shareholders, employees, customers, and outside experts about how its services and infrastructure impedes - or might be able to help - economic development. That has resulted in programs like Mpesa, a pilot project that helps Africans bank through their mobile phones. Vodafone has also changed the way it builds networks to give emergency health-care workers better access, and helps screen mobile video content for users with kids. Vodafone has promised to cut down their carbon dioxide emissions in half by 2020 through improving the energy efficiency of its global mobile-phone networks. Future projects include pledging to recycle 95 percent of network equipment waste and plans to reduce work-related accidents that cause lost time by 10 percent. On top of that, Vodafone is a leading business in socially responsible products such as the text-to-speech software for blind people and easy-to-use handsets for the elderly. Also, Vodafone constantly updates the public with the results of their campaigns irrespective of whether there're going well or not.
7. P&G:
Global FMCG powerhouse P and G have a five-pronged approach to CSR. They provide assistance to communities in the developing world through increasing access to the organization's products and increasing employee engagement. They work on making their products more eco-friendly. They work on making their day-to-day operations, across the globe, greener. They've managed to reduce their water consumption by seven percent, energy usage by six percent and CO2 emissions by eight percent. They are very focused on children. P nad G invest in improving the lives of more than 60 million children in need and in 2008, they delivered 430 million liters of clean drinking water around the world. They engage and equip all P and G employees to build sustainability thinking and practices into their everyday work. And finally, they work transparently with their stakeholders to enable continued freedom to innovate responsibly. And at the at the World Economic Forum in Davos last year, their CSR initiatives were recognised publicly when they were voted 'Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World' by Corporate Knights Inc. and Innovest Strategic Value Advisors Inc.
8. GE:
GE is an active participant in the climate change dialogue through public engagement, investments in sustainable energy and their crown jewel, its Ecomagination initiative. Under Ecomagination, GE aggressively pursues improving their energy efficiency and has reduced their GHG emissions by 13% in the past four years. They also invest in developing products and services that are significantly more energy efficient or lower-emitting in order to solve customers' environmental challenges. As part of their Renewable energy goals, GE is the number one wind turbine manufacturer in the U.S., and number two worldwide, with more than 8,700 wind turbines installed. GE is also working towards making the smart grid a reality. GE Global Research's Advanced Batteries and Hybrid Systems labs work hard to deliver advanced hybrid system and battery technologies that will make the electrification of transportation both practical and affordable. They also work with hospitals to reduce the environmental footprint and operating costs in the medical world.
9. McDonald's:
McDonald's works with its suppliers to promote socially responsible practices in its supply chain as part of its supply chain strategy. It has its own Code of Conduct for Suppliers which describes how McDonald's expects its suppliers to treat their employees. It has also sought to extend social accountability throughout its supply chain. An example of a McDonald's sustainability project: McDonald's stepped in to improve conditions for farm workers in the Florida tomato industry. This in turn promoted good environmental practices in its land-based agricultural supply chain and made the farm a sustainable business. They also initiated the Flagship Farms Initiative in Europe. The program showcases seven 'progressive farms' employing innovative farming practices across Europe and carries out research into how ethical farming practices can be incorporated into commercial farming systems. They also have a Sustainable Fisheries program which is in collaboration with the Sustainable Fisheries Partnership. McDonald's makes charitable contributions through the Ronald McDonald House Charities which aims to create, find and support programs that directly improve the health and well being of children.
10. Toyota:
Toyota takes their CSR very seriously and they focus on environmental issues, traffic safety, and education on a global basis. They have created their Fourth Toyota Environmental Action Plan which is a clear statement of the activities that Toyota will undertake in order to become a leader and driving force in global regeneration by implementing the most advanced environmental technologies. Their focus is on Energy/Global warming, recycling of resources, substances of concern and the atmospheric quality. For each of these four topics, action items, specific measures, and goals have been adopted. As part of their traffic safety initiative, Toyota is committed to making safe vehicles, and they also conduct traffic safety programs. For their education initiative, Toyota conducts programs designed to encourage interest in science and technology, and supports the implementation of educational programs on a global scale that will develop future leaders. Toyota also conducts activities to support the arts and culture with an emphasis on nurturing culture and expanding horizons.

Swedish Work Life - Quality over Quantity
Got This excellent email about Quality over Quantity from my friend Mudassar... Nice Read.
Here it Go
An excellent article to read and enjoy......
It's been 18 years since I joined Volvo, a Swedish company. Working for them has proven to be an interesting experience. Any project here takes 2 years to be finalized, even if the idea is simple and brilliant. It's a rule.
Globalized processes have caused in us (all over the world) a general sense of searching for immediate results.. Therefore, we have come to posses a need to see immediate results. This contrasts greatly with the slow movements of the Swedish. They, on the other hand, debate, debate, debate, hold x quantity of meetings and work with a slowdown scheme. At the end, this always yields better results.
1. Sweden has 2 million inhabitants. .
2. Stockholm has 500,000 people.
3. Volvo, Escania, Ericsson, Electrolux, are some of its renowned companies. Volvo even supplies NASA.
The first time I was in Sweden , one of my colleagues picked me up at the hotel every morning. It was September, bit cold and snowy. We would arrive early at the company and he would park far away from the entrance (2000 employees drive their car to work).
The first day, I didn't say anything, neither the second or third days. One morning I asked him, "Do you have a fixed parking space? I've noticed we park far from the entrance even when there are no other cars in the lot." To which he replied, "Since we're here early we'll have time to walk, don't you think that whoever gets in late will need a place closer to the door?" Imagine my face.
Nowadays, there's a movement in Europe named Slow Food. This movement establishes that people should eat and drink slowly, with enough time to taste their food, spend time with the family, friends, without rushing. Slow Food is against its counterpart, Fast Food and what it stands for as a lifestyle. Slow Food is the basis for a bigger movement called Slow Europe, as mentioned by Business Week.
Basically, the movement questions the sense of "hurry" and "craziness" generated by globalization, fuelled by the desire of "having in quantity" (life status) versus "having with quality", "life quality" or the "quality of being".
French people, even though they work 35 hours per week, are more productive than Americans or British. Germans have established 28.8 hour workweeks and have seen their productivity driven up by 20%.
This slow attitude has come to the notice of USA , the pupils of the fast and "do it now" brigade. This no-rush attitude doesn't represent doing less or having a lower productivity. It means working and doing things with greater quality, productivity, perfection, with attention to detail and less stress.
It means re-establishing family values, friends, free and leisure time.. Taking the "now", present and concrete, versus the "global", undefined and anonymous. It means taking humans' essential values, the simplicity of living. It stands for a less coercive work environment, more happy, lighter and more productive work place where humans enjoy doing what they know best how to do.
It's time to stop and think on how companies need to develop serious quality with no-rush that will increase productivity and the quality of products and services, without losing the essence.
In the movie, 'Scent of a Woman', there's a scene where Al Pacino asks a girl to dance and she replies, "I can't, my boyfriend will be here any minute now". To which Al Pacino responds, "A life is lived in an instant" . Then they dance the tango!
Many of us live our lives running behind time, but we only reach it when we die of a heart attack or in a car accident rushing to be on time. Others are so anxious to live for the future that they forget to live the present, which is the only time that truly exists.
We all have equal time throughout the world. No one has more or less. The difference lies in how each one of us does with our time. We need to live each moment. As John Lennon said, "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans".
Congratulations for reading this email till the end of this message.
There are many who will have stopped in the middle so as not to waste time in this "Globalized" world..
Forward to others whom you would want to share it with.

I thought let me try sending mail to these guys and see what they think about their customer. Though these people are sitting in their US Office, but let them hear what we Indians think about HP. I think HP sucks big time and NO One BUY their product.
I sent an email to both of these Ids with the details of issue, conversation with HP service center and link to my blog post.
For 2 days they didn't bother to reply, However on 3rd day i got an email from their India Office. A lady named Pratima MP replied with the below mail

Work Around - HP Notebook Nvidia soldering problem
After facing Nvidia soldering problem with my HP Notebook (Details Here), I find out couple of work arounds for the temp usage of notebook.
I am facing this isssue since 3 months and i will be discussing couple of workarounds here.
Repairing On your Own
I searched internet a lot related to this problem and find out that people are repairing NVidia GPU on their own with the use of easily available material. All you need is a hair-dryer, aluminum foil, cardboard, a towel, and a little bit of manual dexterity. One of the best explanation over the net i found, can be located here
Heat It Up
Second solution I found out, which is very temp and you need to perform this everytime you turn on your computer. Heat It Up not at all means that you put your notebook in microwave or heat it on a stove. Problem which we are facing is because of Excessive heat generated by NVidia GPU, If you dont know the exact root cause of the problem. Go through this TG Daily , Inquirer and Cnet links or google "HP + Nvidia Soldering Problem". Now this excessive heat generated can be used to fix the laptop as well. Below are the steps to be followed in this case
Disable NVidia Card
Third most succesfull and permamnent solution i found for my notebook is disabling the Nvidia card and using the default graphics.
Wish you all luck with these workarounds. Would love to hear your comments.
Thanks!
One of the best explanation over the net i found, can be located here
Heat It Up

- Turn on your notebook. Most probably the chances are it will show 6-8 screens. Keep pressing F8 and boot it in safe mode. so that you can get through POST and able to see the desktop.
- Now block the air vent to block exhaust. Eventually the notebook will be heated up. Keep this way atleast for 30 minutes.
- Now shutdown the notebook. Press the Area between Power button and Esc button.
- Restart notebook, Most probably graphics will be just fine. If in case it shows multiple screen, Keep hitting the Esc button. It will surely fix the graphics.
Disable NVidia Card
Third most succesfull and permamnent solution i found for my notebook is disabling the Nvidia card and using the default graphics.
- Switch on your notebook in safe mode.
- Go to Device Manager.
- Disable Nvidia Graphics card.
- Reboot your system.

HP making fool of Indian Customer
Hello Guys,
I want to tell you all about the cheat which HP is doing with its customer by selling defective hardware and then refusing to recognize their fault to Indian customer.
I bought my HP laptop from Syscom Technology, Bangalore in April, 08. Notebook model is HP DV2701TX, Product number KB170PA#ACJ. It was working fine till October, 09 (almost 18 months) after which motherboard of the laptop died.
Symptoms which I saw in my laptop were
• Laptop did not boot up
• Show multiple screen (6-8 screen)
• Excessive heating of laptop (People refer this condition as Fire Hazard), temp of GPU will go up around 80 degree Celsius
• Not able to detect wi-fi
• Not lighting up charger LED though laptop is plugged in to power
• Blue screen with nvlddm error.
Initially I thought it could be some virus, so I reinstalled windows OS on my laptop, reinstalled Nvidia graphics card driver. However nothing worked and laptop kept showing the problems with the same symptoms.
As every customer will do I took the laptop to HP Service center (RT Outsourcing Services Ltd, Noida) for the diagnosis in Nov, 09. At service center, when I power on my computer in front of the tech guy, without even touching my laptop the very first thing was said “System board is gone, you need to get it replaced”. I said fine but at least diagnose the laptop properly. I was told I need to pay Rs 300 for the diagnosis as the laptop is out of warranty. I agreed to pay the money and submitted the laptop with them in hope that they will diagnose it thoroughly and will provide me the feedback. They submitted my laptop with the service number (4607577854-461/ND1195). After 2 days I got a call from service center saying I need to get system board replaced and a quotation of Rs 20,920 was sent to me. I said no for the paid service as it is too much for me to afford.
When I asked for the reason for the system board failure and diagnose done by service center, I was never given a satisfactory answer. Later I find that no diagnose was done for my laptop, it was just kept for two days in their service center and nothing else. No reason was given for the failure with saying that “It’s against HP policies”. HP’s point is even if you spend Rs 47k for your notebook, Still HP doesn’t sell rights to its customer to get info about the defect in their laptop. I forgot yes I was told one reason which goes like this “Sir, Motherboard have buses, which some time changes route (Okay laptop is a one highway on which buses takes their desired route whenever possible ), so it happens when bus change route multiple screen comes”. I couldn’t help me from laughing. Common guys give me some realistic reason. I am not a kindergarten kid who will take this shit.
I collected my laptop from service center after paying Rs 300 as diagnose fee (though there was no diagnose done with the laptop apart from keeping it there for 2 days) and came back home and started researching on internet about the fault in laptop and I came to know about a lot of interesting facts, which clearly tells motherboard died because of the defective hardware shipped. Also this defective hardware could be the possible reason for them not to explain the problem.
Few of my findings:
• Problem was because of the defective NVidia graphics card. Which is accepted by Nvidia in their Official Press Release
• Problem is faced by HP customers worldwide not only in India. Information of different customer can be find over the websites like HPLIES and Nvidia Defect
• HP also accepted about this problem and started a LWSE in India. However it covers only very few laptops. Roughly 2% of the total laptop sales with the defective nvidia graphics card.
• Found thousand of affected and unheard customer over HP forums and different websites.
• HP is ignoring Indian customer totally for this problem, however in US/Europe there are plenty of people who got free replacement though their laptops were out of warranty and was not covered under LWSE (Limited warranty service enhancement).
After finding these details, I decided to talk to HP and find out what exactly HP is up to. If it’s a known fact then why HP is not rectifying it for the entire customer affected by Nvidia problem.
I fixed few points around which I decided I will have discussion. After my study it was pretty sure that my laptop is also facing issues because of the Nvidia card and I just want a FOC repair just like other notebooks listed in LWSE. I had a discussion around below points, On which all the representative from HP india failed miserably.
• Problem with Nvidia card is a world known fact and Nvidia also acknowledge the issue. In press release nvidia clearly accepted that they will be replacing all the faulty chips so why HP is not doing so.
• Hp listed 9 symptoms which a notebook can have with defective nvidia cards. Out of these 9, 6 symptoms can be seen in my notebook as well. It can’t be a coincidence. I wanted a proper answer not like bus changed the highway.
• In US and Europe HP offered Free out of warranty repair to the customer whose notebooks were not part of LWSE. Why not to Indian customer? We also pay money and buy laptops. I have a lot of serial number and SO numbers who got free repair. Click Here to get the list. Other list here
• If my laptop is not included into LWSE, then I want to know the reason. Why it is not included in LWSE, though it have the same Nvidia graphics card.
Keeping all these points in my mind, I started my discussions with HP and started from the online customer support and ended up with the executive case manager, that too with the same answers from everyone like a recorded cassettes. Discussion went on for almost 3 months without any results. Details go below:
• First of all I contacted online chat support. I was in touch with HP through online chat since few days. They were all telling me to reinstall OS, reinstall graphics and all. Either no one could really make out what was the issue or they were ignoring the issue. When I asked them about this famous NVidia problem and my laptop also having the same series of Nvidia card. They simply said your laptop is not covered under LWSE and we can’t do anything. When I pressurized they directed me to “on phone support” service.
• Second I called up HP call center to ask them about the issue. And they also said my laptop is not covered under the LWSE and they can’t do anything and I have to pay them mad money to get my laptop fixed up. When I presented them with the facts about the issue and told them it is really issue with HP, they were just speechless and could not even respond properly and too save their ass they just redirected me to HP Case manager Mr. Taranjeet Bedi.
• Third discussion was with Taranjeet, who is the first point of contact or delhi region available at 01140759700 Ext. 725 , 9999396842. It took me a week to get taran on phone and then he talked like he did a great favor for me by talking to me. Anyways again the same recorded cassette my laptop is not covered under warranty and nothing can be done. Then when I told taran about the nvidia statements and other detailed reports about the problem, he said he will forward it to their backend team who looks after escalation. However I seriously doubt if he ever escalated it. He told me that he will respond back within 2 days, however for 6-7 days he didn’t. He ignored my follow up mails. He never bothered to answer the calls, very well understood that he was trying to tell me. “FUCK OFF” we at HP give a damn to customer. In the meantime I already had decided to file a case in consumer court, so after 10 days without response, I told taran that it’s fine if he don’t want to respond maybe he can respond to court. Suddenly he got up from sleep and got time to call me up and asked me for some time. Anyhow even after 10 more days, I heard the same old cassette. Your laptop is neither under warranty nor under LWSE. You go to HELL.
• Fourth discussion I had was with Kapil Chawla. Taran forward my case to his senior management and Kapil called me to take over the case. Kapil is available at 9999911607, he assured me that he will do best for me and will try to regain the trust in HP. If I say I was impressed with Kapil and I thought that this guy will be any help to me. But my illusion was broken soon, when after 2-3 days I asked me do he understand what the issue is. Why I am escalating it and there he goes blank. He had no idea what is my demand. Anyways I took the pain to explain him whole case once again for one hour. And I was still not sure if he really understood the issue. Because if he had, he would not have repeated me the same old cassette. Kapil told me that he needs some time as he has escalated the case to backend Bangalore HP team to determine the issue and in mean time my laptop was submitted twice with the service center but returned without any resolution. After a number of follow up calls with HP, one day kapil told me that yes they will fix my laptop for free of cost. They have ordered the part. I was happy, but my happiness lasted only for 2 days. After 2 days, Kapil called and totally ran away from his words. He said he never committed me any FOC repair. And here Kapil offered me 25% discount on the total cost which I refused, as I can’t pay for the HP defective hardwares. Anyways as Kapil was also not capable of handling my case, he escalated it to his next level for my fifth discussion.
• Fifth discussion happened with Ashish Mishra along with Mr Babban from tech team. As usual ashish called me without any knowledge and without any study. So again I had to take pain explaining him each and everything. That how the notebook is defective. How Hp sold me a defective laptop. To be very frank both of these guys were sounding very un-impressive from the first moment and I had a zero percent faith that they will be able to handle my case. In spite of me being try to explain the situation they were just playing the same old cassette of “your laptop is not covered under warranty”. To cut the call short so I was promised my laptop will be taken to submit it to the backend lab and diagnose if it is really problem with the Nvidia card or something else. Imagine after submitting laptop for thrice with service center they are still telling me that they need to take it back once again. I don’t know why they have these service centers and such a big team of tech people sitting over there which even can’t find out what kind of issue a computer is facing. We disconnected the discussion with Ashish promising me to get back with resolution. However as usual we customer are the real culprit who buys product for their luxuries so we only have to face the consequences and circumstances. I wrote a follow up mail to Ashish and again in reply to my mail I got the same old recorded Cassette, this time in written format. “your laptop is not covered under warranty and LWSE”
Apart from all these talks i have sent 10-15 mails to HP CED and HP-CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE . HP CED is said to be higher most escalation desk for Indian customers. Its been 3 long months and still i have to hear from them.
In 3 months i talked to 5-6 people from HP and i find no one is educated enough, capable enough to handle this issue. all are bunch of fools just talking some shit sitting in their offices. In my life, I am not gonna BUY HP product ever.
After all this, I have no other option other than filing a case with consumer court. Guys, if you also have HP DV series laptop with Nvidia graphics card and happen to face same problem. Please report it to HP and fight for your right. If a lot of people going to report it then they have to listen.
If you happen to get a free service from HP, then also please post your notebook product number and the service number so that it can help me in getting things done.
Please do write in your comments.
